Doris Puehringer was born and raised in Austria. She attended the University of Vienna, graduating with a Master’s degree in Art History and Clothing Design. She then relocated to the United States, where she went on to complete her Masters degree in Architectural Design at UCLA.
She was introduced to yoga by her grandmother at a very young age, and she practiced it all through her childhood. However, her training as a Yoga Instructor began 13 years ago, after coming to the United States, when she became a registered Yoga Teacher with the internationally recognized Yoga Alliance. Taking her Yoga teachings several steps further, she graduated in August 2009 from Yoga Therapy Rx at Loyola Marymount University, becoming one of a very select group of registered yoga therapists. Her schooling coupled with being a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists enables Doris to have a deeper medical understanding, giving her the incredible ability to help people in a more therapeutic way.
Her passion and commitment to yoga was solidified by her own personal healing experience. Fourteen years ago, Doris was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer. She underwent a complete thyroidectomy . She attributes a large part of her success in her treatment to her daily practice of yoga. That experience made her realize the importance of yoga for her own personal healing. So besides teaching, she practices yoga on a regular basis; healing herself from within, physically, emotionally, and mentally.
The most amazing thing about Doris isn’t her vast education, but her unique and personalized approach to caring for her patients. She is a very authentic, compassionate, and nurturing individual, who places a great emphasis on healing the body, mind, and soul. She believes that “one can heal from physical and emotional injuries, awakening the spirit through the body and the practice of Yoga.”
